Some of the grandest architecture can be seen in the monuments to God that humans build, no matter which religion they belong to. In their inner sanctums, mortals search for peace and spiritual bliss and earn to touch infinity...these hallowed portals are sacred & are revered by their followers.

The grandest Hindu Temple in Canada, Swami Narayan Temple on Finch Ave/Hwy 427 (Etobicoke), was completed in 2007. Built of intricately carved white marble (most of them carved in India & shipped to Toronto), this temple was opened by the Head of Swaminarayan Sect, Sri Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr Stephen Harper. Christopher Hume, a Toronto Star columnist commented on its opening day, "...it is one of the most extraordinary buildings ever built in this country"
Before the white marble Temple was built, this delicately carved wooden (built of Teakwood from Myanmar and other S.E Asian countries) temple served as the main sanctum of the Swami Narayan Temple complex.
If anyone had a desire to see Indian artisans' stone carving skills but did not want to travel to India, this temple, in the very backyard of American sub-continent would amply whet that desire. The carvings in its inner sanctum would match and perhaps even exceed the stone carving details seen on the Taj Mahal at Agra
